As
a young man interested in art and automobiles, I
found ways to be involved in both in a great way. As a teenager,
I built model cars, and pin-striped hot rods, and then became
a member of the "Westport Downshifters" Car Club.
I started college as a Major in Industrial Design and was
interested in "automobile styling."
After
a year or so, I changed my Major to Art because I felt that
auto designers were limited to corporate guidelines, and
therefore designed with too much compromise which was too
limiting for me.
Throughout my adult life I continued my interest in car
design, and made many prototype models and drawings. Some
of these were actually constructed and shown in auto shows,
television shows and movies, and several of these won top
awards -- 61 trophies for one such auto.
